When you are writing your dissertation, you are always on the lookout for ideas. One of the great skills any student can have when writing an essay or dissertation is to be able to discern between inspiring ideas and those which are not really going to help in your writing. How do you do this? Well the first and most important thing to do is to record your ideas. Who can tell where ideas spring from? They come out of nowhere. But it doesn't matter where they come from, you must record them.
This could be jotting them down in a notepad you keep in your pocket or purse. It could be speaking to your mobile phone and recording them. It could be sending a text message to yourself or to your e-mail address where the idea is listed. Because people who get a great idea and don’t record it often then find themselves scratching their head and wondering what exactly that idea was. So the first step is definitely to keep a record every time you get an idea.
